Ireland’s tea drinkers are getting younger

07 August 2008

Ireland loves its tea, no big surprises there, but Barry's Tea reveals how more and more Irish families enjoy sharing their golden moments with their young ones over a toasty cup of tea. Latest findings from Barry's Tea show that over 65% of people start drinking tea before the age of 10 and 86% tuck in to a cup of tea at 15 years old.

Statistics show that Barry's Tea is close to Irish hearts from an early age. While the upper end of the market remains unwavering in its love of the cosy cup, the under 35 year old market has grown by 2% from 2007 with 52% of people drinking several times a day. The growing popularity of herbal and caffeine-free teaoptions is contributing to this growing youth market.

Barry's Tea commented, 'It's only natural to share your Golden Moments with your friends and family over a cup, we've all been doing this for ages. The growth in the under 35 bracket shows that these traditions really have stayed true and have become a valued part of people's lives in Ireland which Barry's is proud to support.'

Barry's Tea's are blended from the finest teas, with the majority from Africa and India. To join the Barry's Tea Party check out www.barrystea.ie or become a fan on Facebook.
